I'm not sure how being born in Dusseldorf directly influenced your naming, Rolf, but good for you.
|
Xenocide - 2007-06-28 UPDATE: I've been told that Rolf's line is a parody of a scene in a Leni Riefenstahl propaganda film where various Nazi soldiers loudly announce their names and birthplaces. Well played, Mr. Brooks.

The 1968 version was IMO funnier (the goofy, totally unsuitable hippy guy as Hitler---"I lieb ya, baby, I lieb ya...now LIEB ME ALONE!") but I'm glad this got revived into a Broadway show followed by a movie version of the Broadway show---everybody had fun and it gave Mel Brooks a comeback:)

The 1968 version IS funnier, but GOD! These Costumes!

boba. - 2007-06-28 I thought the original was from 1939. OH SNAP.

Good, though I reserve a full five for the original.
|
Zarathustra00 - 2007-06-28 Did some looking and the original was on here, but the link is dead.

Man, modern comedy owes so much to Mel Brooks. I should probably say modern GOOD comedy, since modern shitty comedy owes more to Family Guy.

no it's not the original, but taken on its own, I thought this was really damn good and funny.
might even see the whole thing now.

Original is better, but the song and idea alone get five stars.
