I think that Israel can do better than its current leader at least. A man who is pretty shockingly Machiavellian and probably a psychopath. I would go so far as to call the man 'evil'. The media has been quietly telling us what he's all about for years.

Every damned election cycle he'll literally have the army run over and kick the hornet's nest by doing something outrageous. Then every time Hamas takes the bait and reacts. (Nobody is saying they're angels.) Then he can woo hardliners and moderates by completely bringing the hammer down to disproportionately obliterate the enemy he enabled.

"See, see! You NEED hardliners like us!"

And this gets him voted back in. Every single time.

It's like this demented Kabuki where most of the actors don't realize they are actors. Israelis die, Palestinians die. He gets to sit there in a mansion nibbling on fluffy pastries not really caring about either of them.

I don't think he'd wipe out the Palestinians. Provoking them and blowing them up over and over to look like a hero is great hustle! If there were no more Palestinians he'd be out of a job.

He's the Israeli version of Emperor Commodus.

I just assume that a large number Palestinians, like their Arab neighbors, are legitimately antisemitic.

Likewise, I assume the right/far-right in Israel are legitimately bigoted against Arabs and Palestinians.

I also think that in the US various Arab and Jewish NGOs wage a propaganda war against the US populace with the former leveraging the left, appealing to the left's disdain for empire and unequal power relations, and the latter leveraging the right by appealing to notions of national sovereignty, defense, and Christianity.

I also assume that I'm probably wrong on something or other when it comes down to brass tacks.
