I've been losing weight and realized that I've accidentally been doing keto. I have trouble getting enough calories so I've been just loading on tons of fats. Had the opposite effect.

Also: all youtubers belong in concentration camps.

Just something to keep in mind, if you're not already: Replacing carbs with fats in one's diet, while it helps with weight, has a negative impact on the cardio-vascular system, since those fats and cholesterol will be deposited in your arteries throughout your body. So if you've been significantly overweight for a while (well even if you haven't but just have had a typical North American diet), your arteries will have plaque buildup already and you'll be adding to it with a keto diet.

With that said, one thing you can do to mitigate the effects of the fats and cholesterol intake, according to my doctor, is exercise moderately after eating, as your body will turn what you ate into energy or energy stores, thereby lessening the time that fat and cholesterol are just circulating around your vascular system and decreasing the chance that it will be deposited on artery walls.

I submitted this for the sake of sheer horror, but I'm starting to gain respect for this channel. In my less-than-expert opinion, these videos are too honest and too well-informed to be pure exploitation. This is good advice, from someone who knows what she's talking about, for someone who could use it. I need to lose weight, and I've gotten some good information from this channel.

What's horrifying in all of this is youtube, and its vast, loathsome archipelago of self-destructive mukbang channels, where broken people sell their souls and wreck their bodies for attention. Apparently, this is a big trend right now.

I have another of these videos that I intend to submit, that's actually far worse, though after this it may be redundant. LET THE COMMUNITY DECIDE.

Figure out a target number of calories to aim for, based on what you need just to maintain your weight; consult a site such as this (you can pick a different one if you like):

Exercise is tricky. If exercise makes you hungry, or messes up your sense of fullness, don't try to exercise the pounds off. If you can exercise without it interfering with weight loss, sure, go ahead. But you probably need 2500+ calories just to maintain your weight, so you can lose weight by just cutting into that. 3500 calories = 1 lb body weight, so a sustained 500 calorie deficit will mean 1 pound a week.

I'll add that when you calculate your caloric needs, calculate for sedentary. That way if you, say, add walking 3 miles to your day and consume only the calories needed to maintain your weight (at no exercise) you'll be at a deficit. This is perhaps more of a mental trick, but has helped me.

What I've gotten from this channel isn't actually information, it's a deeper understanding of how certain processed foods are engineered to hack into old survival instincts and trigger overeating. I can see it so clearly after this young woman explained it, and now I'm starting to see it in my life. I really have a sense that avoiding certain foods is a big part of sticking to the plan.

My meal plan is simple on purpose. Protein for breakfast, carbs for lunch, a big bowl of veggies for dinner. I'm hoping that will do the trick, because I don't want to have to start doing a bunch of math. I weigh what I weighed 20 years ago, but Im 63 years old, and it's getting to be a lot to carry around.
