It kind of defeats the purpose of the air bag when the driver gets his larynx smashed to jelly between the steering wheel and the seat back. Nice try though China.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2007-06-23

I, for one, am shocked that anything unsafe could come from China. Now I need to go set off some Chinese fireworks.

bizzaro - 2007-06-24

they are screwed, everyone knows asians can't drive wer.

SolRo - 2007-06-24

Thank you China, now we actualy have a tool to lower the population of dumbass SUV drivers.

"Whatya mean my chinese SUV ain't safe, its got airbags!"

(also, watch the longer version that's in french...notice how they laugh when that thing crashes)

God, are you still here? Why?

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2007-06-24

This is not even slightly unusual for a car of its type and age -- this is based from an early 90s Isuzu design. Most cars designed around then were death traps at these speeds.

Sorry, it just irks me that people have an attitude about Chinese engineering when they make most of the developed world's crap. Show me an apparently safe domestic car, and I'll show you a Ford Aerostar or a Dodge Ram.

Remains of a 1996 Chevy Astro in a 40mph offside crash. This suicide-machine was sold as a few other models, as both a passenger van for devastating family trips and a delivery van for dangerous jobs.

It got the lowest possible crash rating, BBBS. Don't defend it.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2008-06-16

Mr Xiphias, this car was sold as a GM product only a decade ago.

Derrida - 2007-06-24

Still awesome

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2007-06-24

Likesay, that things been sold as a GM in Europe. We'll to Germany and the better Japanese cars, thanks.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2007-06-24

We'll stick to German..., even.

These crash test videos used to freak me out as a kid. There's just something creepy with silent videos with slow motion dummies getting tossed around like ragdolls and crushed.
