I've been watching a lot of the pedo-catcher stuff on youtube and something about it never sat right with me, but ultimately this documentary doesn't really make a compelling case against it either. I don't think too many people give a shit if the activities of these creeps creates an incentive for other (almost) equally weird people to mildly harass them for money.

I'm amazed how many guys are out there falling for this. It's definitely a gross aspect of our society that's still there when ignored.

I don't think it's a deterrent. Half of the guys who get caught behave as though they think they can talk their way out of the situation. Some guys are just regretful that they did it "this time" meaning they're regretful they got caught. Some guys laughed at a catch video and then decided to look for a child to meet up with as if they're above being caught.

I always got a Dexter vibe from the Perverted Justice type crowd: people with dark, unhealthy urges that they give themselves an excuse to excise by picking targets perceived to deserve it.

Ramy seems like a power tripping bully in this. Apparently these methods yield hardly any results and actually hinder the efforts of actual law enforcement.
