As someone who spends a lot of time at the bench soldering stuff, this is a good explanation. I'd noticed the smoke coming at me, just thinking it was air coming through the edge of the window in front of me and pushing the smoke toward me.

Doing a big connection, like on tube electronics and with added flux that can create a big billow of smoke, and I exhale slowly to push it away. I have a 12 volt Muffin fan on a 5 volt supply so it runs slow, and blow that across the bench, that works well too.

Been bench pressing electronics forever and and hadn't thought about this most simple effect.

I can't decide if I want to punch this guy for his shirt, his vocal fry, or his overall air of seeming like he's never had a real problem.

Or for the idea that this guy has soldered enough for this to be a mystery. You can rig an old PC fan up and save some brain cells. My shop teacher from the aughts wouldn't let anybody solder until they built a fan for their workspace.
