This is why the term "software engineer" is such a joke. So called software engineers just throw shit together and hope it works, like structural engineers from 500+ years ago. Start building cathedral, it falls down after 50 years of building work, start building again but this time make walls a bit thicker.

There is a way to mathematically prove code but it is incredibly painstaking and only commercially viable in the most extreme circumstances.
I agree that the term software engineer is bullshit, but part of that throwing shit together and hoping it works comes from the commercial side of things where the people paying them only give a shit about making money and not about whether things work right.

jfcaron_ca - 2021-12-05 I thought a software engineering degree was like half computer programming and half corporate management. Like you get to be in charge of real programmers and real management is in charge of you.
