My hippocampus wasn't forming memories at the time. How does this era compare, vileness-wise?

I think the one thing working in our favor now is the middle class has been gutted and the working class has been devastated.

It was easier for the fuckers to get away with their evil when so many people felt safe & comfortable.

There was some interview I heard a while back. A lady told the interviewer a story about talking with a guy while the guy's dog lay on the ground nearby. The dog kept grunting and shifting slightly because it was lying on rough stones. The lady asked the guy why the dog didn't just move over to the nice soft grass and the guy said he would when he got too uncomfortable.

Ah, see we’re still clinging to the “we’ll have a workers paradise revolution if we let things get bad enough” delusions.

Didn’t happen in post WW1 Germany, won’t happen in America. You’ll fall into scapegoating fascism just like every other “proud” nation.

Whatever.

More people are pro-union. More people are getting pissed off at the naked greed of the oligarchs. And more people are getting pissed off at the inaction of politicians.

But if being an insufferable defeatist prick is your coping mechanism, have at it.

While a tiny handful of union optimism stories bout a Starbucks unionizing is nice, I also saw America elect an incompetent fascist and almost had a coup to keep that fascist in power.

One of those left a larger impression.

Yes, and the 2022 midterms are going to be a bloodbath for Democrats.

And once the GOP seizes power, they'll start indicting Democrats left & right and passing all sorts of oppressive laws to persecute LGBTQ people and roll back reproductive rights.

And then they'll find out how few people are actually cool with all that.

No, yeah, I’m sure Americans will all realize how bad republicans are THIS time. The other 20 times were just practice runs!

You may feel nothing will finally cause the dam to burst.

But things had to get really, REALLY bad the last time a massive change took place.

We'll have to wait and see.
