Ted Cruz is Ron DeSantis, without the sexual charisma.

By the end of this election year, expect more clips of Republicans trying to explain Critical Race Theory, and how it is part of the Deep State's plan to rob our children of their self-esteem.

yogarfield - 2022-03-27

They’ve already been doing that for almost two years.

The fact that they bring a children’s book to a conversation about high-end structuralist legal theory tells you all you need to know.

They’re stupid, they don’t care, but they are just smart enough to know there’s no incentive for them to care because outrage trumps intellect.

It will work again, and I fully expect another 4 years of the GOP buttfucking the country for personal gain.

The only thing I can hope for is that Ted Cruz has trouble sleeping at night, but who am I kidding?

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say we're one more Republican majority away from losing our democracy as we know it. Even Democrats losing one majority in the legislature is going to cripple the ability to safeguard anything, and then it's just a matter of time before the point of no return.

The future is stripping any possibility of Republicans ever losing another election again, with the Supreme court siding with them every time, and reversing their own precedent whenever it happens to favor Democrats in the future. More school anti free speech laws and bounty hunter systems like Florida. Encouraging more vigilantism with expanded sanctioned murder against any protestors. MAGA pickup truck convoys to any state or local capital that resists, for the offenders to be removed from office or outright executed.

There's a pretty decent chance we're only 3-6 years away from that.

yogarfield - 2022-03-27

@nom Yeah.. it's pretty great. At this rate Canada and Mexico will be building the walls to keep us out, and they'll probably trick the MAGAts to pay for it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2022-03-28

>>>They’ve already been doing that for almost two years.

Yes, but they've been doing it in-house. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but if you can get on Fox News, you can always fool Fox News viewers. I kept hearing about how Clinton was going to win in 16, and45rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrr how Trump was going to win in 20, so I'm not about to predict how future elections will go, but this is what happens when they try to sell this crap to the general public. It's a train wreck. I'm not predicting that the Republicans won't win a majority in November, that would be foolish... but there will surely be more public train wrecks like this, let's make-=[0 the most of them.

Things could go south for the Republicans very quickly. I'm not saying that they will, but they could. Trump is not as stupid as we'd though. He's a genius at promoting and preserving himself, but he's made himself into a the center of everything, and he's an idol built on lies. Lies travel fast. Truth travels far. The top candidates to inherit the mantle from Trump are Ted Cruz and Ron DeSantis, black holes of anticharisma.

>>They’re stupid, they don’t care, but they are just smart enough to know there’s no incentive for them to care because outrage trumps intellect.

They're not that stupid. They are locked into this course from years of playing to the base, and by years of Right Wing media feeding the base angry lies. They've alienated everyone else. They have no other play, and reportedly, some of them are terrified, but they play along. They rationalize their own political cowardice with the idea of being beaten by Marjorie Taylor Green in the primaries..Someone else would be worse, they tell themselves, but they vote exactly the same.

Speaking of outrage, how about Ted Cruz evoking the name of Dr. King so very inappropriately?

It's all bad. Pessimism is appropriate, but not defeatism. Never defeatism.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2022-03-28

Misplaced reply.

Crackersmack - 2022-03-29

It's stupid but their voters care about it, and Republicans actually want to get reelected so they do what their voters want them to do.

duck&cover - 2022-03-27

Zodiac strikes again.

Jeriko-1 - 2022-03-27

Not, stupid. Evil and depressing but not stupid.

It was taking a break to signal to constituents an ad/reinforcement of sorts from the GOP. "Us good them bad." The GOP has grudgingly accepted that while necessary for votes their base is about as socially advanced as the Pakleds from Star Trek. There is no need to be nuanced or sophisticated. He could have gone out there with a Joe Biden puppet and had it dry hump a My Little Pony toy. They vote Red and they can't 'drift'. That is all that matters so displays like this are an unpleasant necessity. You have all the followers you NEED but you actually want like zero of them. There's no amount of lying to yourself to cover up how repulsive these beings are. But you gotta 'get er' done' and jack em off. That's your job.

I wonder how alcoholism rates are in the ranks of elected officials in the GOP?

SolRo - 2022-03-27

Alcoholism would result only if republican politicians were capable of feeling shame. But sociopaths feel no shame.

scrungus - 2022-03-27

oh sweet, i'm not a sociopath!
