First, the young uns I'm training struggle with critical thought & simple arithmetic. Kinda important for keeping track of narcs & hard to get surgical stuff...
Second, a gaming buddy of mine who works at Lowes & constructs houses as a side hustle can't find people who understand angles & basic measurements.
Third & most poignantly, my best friend from high school fled the teaching profession to work in health care as a Patient Advocate. It was killing him.
He has nothing but horror stories about Seniors who know one hell of a lot less than we knew graduating the ninth grade decades ago.

Idiocracy is a funny movie, but the argument here is that it fails as satire, because it uses a fake eugenics argument to explain the wave of stupidity, and that's wrong headed.
That's as close as I'm likely to get to any brief summing up of an hour and a quarter of a young woman talking very fast. If you don't want to watch this, I get it, but it's good. Sarah Z (she pronounces it "Sarah Zed") is a little too meticulous. She does a ton of research, and then uses all of it, and the topic of "just why are we so stupid?" is worthy of a ton of research.
