The US should have a *revolution* ye have not done that yet. Ye had a war for independence, then a civil war.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2022-05-07

Imo revolution denotes actual social change, eg. change in wealth or income distribution, *something*.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2022-05-07

There haven't been very many 'revolutions' that made anything better. Typically they either swapped some problems for others, or things got much much worse.

ashtar. - 2022-05-07

The Constitution is bad and needs to be changed. It's basically impossible to amend. SCOTUS reading new stuff into it was kind of a workaround. That's been eliminated. Things will get worse and tensions will increase.

I don't know how much class consciousness there is for a revolution, but I fully expect increased unfocused civil unrest.

Can't state rights fix this?

Why does it have to be a federal solution?

If Texas says no to abortions, move out or cross the border?

Not being facetious, let the red so what they want, and the blues do what they want.

ashtar. - 2022-05-08

Not everyone would like to, or can, move across the country because they suddenly live in a state where they don't have rights. And people doing that en mass would further damage a sense of shared national identity.

I also think it's important to realize how little floor there is to this. The far right will push it as far as they can; there's only pushback for being too much of a cuck RINO. And without the courts (federalist SCOTUS for 30 year) or the legislature (need 60 votes in the senate, not gonna get it), all this stuff and more is really for real on the table for being banned.

casualcollapse - 2022-05-08

Lef You sound capriciously close to telling migrants to move back to their shit hole countries

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2022-05-08

@casualcollapse

Plot-twist: USA was the shithole country all along!! D:

TeenerTot - 2022-05-09

In my state, they're already trying to make it illegal to leave the state for an abortion.
Also, if I have a partial miscarriage, I'll probably bleed out and die before I can get to the next state.
Abortion restrictions will kill women.

Meerkat - 2022-05-09

You know who else leaves the state to get an abortion?

WITCHES~!!!1!!!!

Lef - 2022-05-09

She does look like a witch...

Lef - 2022-05-07

Street price for freshly poached fetus is skyrocketing.

These adult females, but certainly not women, gonna be making bank with every border crossing.

blase - 2022-05-07

They probably won't stop until it's like the 19th century all over again with no worker safety nets and a dirt-cheap labor force to exploit. No need to outsource labor to 3rd world countries because the red states will be taking their place.

SolRo - 2022-05-08

Hah, only roll back to the 19th century?

Didn’t know you were such an optimist.

Nominal - 2022-05-09

I'm not terribly familiar with guilded age media coverage. Did they worship the ultra rich as divine right god kings to the embarrassing degree they do now?

blase - 2022-05-11

One could probably argue that it wasn't much different from the 13th century in many aspects, except large scale labor and manufacturing

cognitivedissonance - 2022-05-08

I'll be over here, neither contributing nor denigrating in any way, as I've been told to do for 40 years, and if you need any of my assistance with it, I'm sure you'll be willing to hear me out on some of my other cis, white male opinions. I reckon one (1) student loan discharge ought to direct me where my vote needs to go, because otherwise, I'm happy to let you sort it all out yourselves without my input whatsoever, as, again, you've reminded me daily that I cannot or should not have an opinion on this topic in any way, which I've been happy to not provide up to this point.

Good luck! I'm rooting for you!

Crackersmack - 2022-05-08

The Democratic majority senate seems to be able to pass legislation when it aligns with their priorities:

78-17 for a $10 billion bailout to Jeff Bezos
90-5 for a $125 billion corporate tax break
87-6 for $53 billion to corporate outsourcers
88-11 for $780 billion to war profiteers
58-42 against a $15 minimum wage

cognitivedissonance - 2022-05-09

good cop bad cop, that's the game
