Love the casting of TV actors as voice actors, it's inspired.
Batwoman is Stephanie Beatriz, Rosa from "Brooklyn 911".
Black Mask is Johnathan Banks, from "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul". I like him way better than Ewan McGregor's take on Black Mask.
Selina Kyle is Elizabeth Gilles, who I don't know, but I dig that she sort of looks like Julie Newmar. An Actress from the Walking Dead plays Julia Pennyworth, who is a new character to me but I presume is related to you-know-who.

I’d argue that in the world of mainstream 2D animation, yes, “American” is an insult.

3D stuff from Disney is world class. But low and mid-tier stuff like this in America is terrible more often than it’s not.

And I guess I better clarify that I’m talking about animation quality and direction, not storytelling or character design or popularity etc, those are separate things.

I can dig it. Those things you don't care about are what I care about, and the animation doesn't get in the way of that. I grew up in the 60s watching a lot worse. These people don't work for Disney. The budgets are limited.

I made a point of explaining that this isn't supposed to be anime. It's being sold as "anime style". I don't know if that distinction means anything, so I'm just passing it on. It's more realistic than anime I've seen, except for the opening credits, which are genius, but other than that, not a hill I would choose to die on.

Well budgets are a reflection of what the market in a region considers important. So in Japan they will spend a lot to do quality animation for multiple projects every year, while the same is an outlier in America.

This also causes the knock on effect of not developing the local talent to do quality animation, causing messes like this fight scene.

An aside; animation is actually pretty cheap compared to quality live action shows.

Animation is cheaper than live action, but not as cheap as the usual balloon juice about jump cuts. Seems like it's about "jump cuts" an awful lot of the time.

Well, I guess that's why they call it "anime-style". I like it, but 90 per cent of the anime I ever saw was before 1970. (Speed Racer, Gigantor, Kimba, 8th Man). In 1963, when I was five and the TV was taken over by the death of JFK for a week, my favorite TV show was Supercar(Gerry Anderson), my second favorite was Astro Boy. To me, this feels nostalgic, while nursing my obsession with DC, which started up again roughly a year ago when I discovered the Harley Quinn animated series.

Ah, good ole Gerry Anderson (and company). "Dragon's Domain" is still, to this day, my favourite episode of any TV show ever. When I was a wee lad we used to hang a comforter over my dad's sawhorse and pretend to get sucked into it.

It's more "Bwuh?" or "Uhhh?!"

Anime would be one quarter as long if you cut out all the pauses and wordless grunts.
