Weeabooism was mostly completely unknown in PC Gaming up until the late 90s. There was a big push to cram it in around '98-'01. Shogo, Daikatana, Anachronox, Septerra Core.

All failures. My memory is fuzzy if it ever caught on between that period and Steam blowing up.

Shogo almost could have been a good game. I bought it new, and maybe they patched it or something, but a lot of the AI was basically non existent. You would just come across enemies just standing around doing nothing. Other than that I remember it having some cool ideas anyway.

Lithtech 1.0 was notorious for 2 things: random enemy AI flatlining and random damage numbers. Blood 2 was also rife with this.

The number of good early Lithtech games can be counted on half an amputee's hand.

I forgot about blood 2, that game was just terrible.

We all try to forget.

My earliest memory of weeaboo and PC gaming was the anime (then, Japanimation) rack at the Egghead Software in Bellevue. I must’ve been 6 or 7. I think it was a copy of Dominion Tank Police ( I only figured this out decades later) but the anime tiddies definitely left an imprint.

I bought Shogo in the local Software Etc. used game rack. 14 year old me was enthralled by the anime mecha during my Gundam phase. The on foot segments, not so much.
