Except it literally is impossible. The US has the largest GPC on the planet. There are more guns than people in this country.

And I say this as a responsible gun owner that thinks over half of this country is too stupid to own one, but sadly there's no magic button to make that go away.

If you want to talk "pro-gun bullshit", just look at what the NRA was doing even before they started taking Russian donations. They have actively and successfully lobbied through conservative channels to get people to scare-buy any time there was a mass-shooting or some civil unrest that scares white America. Ammo prices spike when the NRA says so, and the producers thank them for it.

That's not even to speak of the intentional and grinding fear of safety and scarcity that the right and groups like the NRA implement to fleece the worse half of our country.

Example: A few years back I was considering getting a Draco AK as a wall piece. It was $300. I just checked, and a Century Arms (widely considered as "shitguns") is currently going for a grand.

At no point anywhere has anyone claimed banning guns would make existing guns magically disappear overnight. That’s a total horseshit red herring.

If that dumb an argument made sense we’d still be pumping CFCs into the ozone because what’s the fucking point, right?

does our dogshit basically-unchangeable constitution guarantee an individual right to own products that contain CFCs?

is there a substantial coalition of voters whose only political issue is "I want to spray CFCs into the atmosphere"?

I can't watch this video right now because being banned from youtube means that I can't sign in, and therefore I can't watch age restricted videos from here. But let me extrapolate the issues as I read them from the comments.

I don't personally support gun control because I think it's absolutely a loser issue for the Democrats. We're still trying to get background checks and and other half-measures, we're not making much progress that I can see, the gun lobby has enough single-issue votes who think we want to take all out guns away, and it kills at the polls over and over. We keep marching into the buzzsaw, and for that we're getting violent insurrections and the destruction of Roe V Wade, and further right wing shenanigans. Rick and Santorum wants to amend the Constitution. And the killing don't stop

But the arguments against gun laws are ridiculous. You can kill someone with a baseball bat if you catch them unawares, but you can't kill 20 elementary students with a baseball bat. And you can kill someone with a zip gun, but if you want to kill 20 people, you're going to need 20 zip guns.

It's not possible for all the guns to dissappear, and for all the killing to stop. Everybody knows this, no one is eriously arguing otherwise, and we can all stop talking about it. It's a big fucking strawman. It's true that if all guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns, but "all guns outlawed" has never been on the table, and people who keep talking about it are either disingenuous, idiots, or disingenuous idiots.

What is possible is for considerably less people to die. THAT is the outcome we should be talking about.

@solro I think you’re confusing a red herring with a strawman argument, which is what your CFC postulation is.

I gave you a reasoned response as to why banning guns is impossible in America. Because it is. Did you miss the point where I said there is an entire apparatus that makes mad sales over anti-gun headlines.

None of this legislation will pass, but it will generate sales for Glock, Century, your local gunshop, etc.

If you're going to spit and foam, at least be good at it.
