I love this movie. It’s the quintessential distillation of every 1950s sci-fi trope. Probably because it made the tropes.

That’s an absolute classic and a favorite of mine as well, but it had more to say philosophically and was a smarter movie overall.

War of The Worlds embodies the feigned intellectualism of much of the 1950s sci-fi, complete with hero Dr. Scientist, Woman (that’s basically her character), a priest, and competent but useless military.
