Even if I fully understand and recognize that this is a cheap political stunt done by a piece of shit, what is so uniquely horrible about a ride on a private jet to a beautiful island as opposed to being corralled under a sweltering bridge in Texas and whipped by men on horseback?
People who were possibly already in the USCIS program and waiting for an asylum city to accept them were intercepted by a a fixer who went by the name "Perla".
Perla was paying other immigrants (in small cash fees or McDonald's gift cards) to convince people to get on a plane that they were told was going to Boston, where they would be met with accommodations, expedited work papers, job opportunities, English lessons, etc.
Instead they were flown to Florida with a videographer, then to MV for a "HA HA OWNING THE LIBS" moment.
Its beyond human trafficking, and fucking indefensible.
Don't forget that they printed fake travel brochures.
There's no "well I don't know how I feel about this" for any sane person.
Blocked user makes whattaboutism. Nobody is shocked.
It's definitely a bad thing, and I'm happy to see a sheriff pissed off about it. I don't know how much will come of this, but it's nice to see.
It's less brutal than the stuff that is just baked into the structure of our immigration system, but it's a bigger headline.
I wish people were more outraged about the structural stuff that is worse, but I'm happy they're outraged about this, I guess.
1. Yes the fake promises and the brochure were cruel and unnecessary, but so is literally every other aspect of the US immigration process, the whole system is lies and fake promises and cruelty from top to bottom and everybody seems to be just fine/infuriated by that depending on whose team is in power. Forgive me for rolling my eyes at your fake outrage.
2. For the record this is the first place I have encountered Bidenites sinking so low as to claim that the whipping of immigrants by Border Patrol was staged! How's it feel to be the exact same thing as a Trumper? Same beliefs, same politics, same delusions, same racism. "Blue Maga" describes you people perfectly.
3. Again, nobody will answer the question; how is a private flight to Martha's Vineyard (and all the national attention for their plight that it generates) worse than anonymously being at the mercy of racist and violent Border Patrol and local Texas despots? Besides the fact that it embarrases some of your favorite political celebrities?
The outrage is fake and hypocritical. You all do not give one shit about these immigrants, and neither do the millionaire assholes in Martha's Vineyard that made sure those people were on a flight off the island inside of 36 hours. Desantis isn't just a scumbag he's also an idiot, but he's making your political heroes look like the lying hypocrites that they are on immigration.
Also of course a fake tough guy act by a cop gets you people fired up, lol. Lick those boots!
kill yourself immediately
You support all the same shit that Desantis does, as long as it's Biden or Obama or Clinton doing it.
You should get that fact allergy looked at, it's making you look stupid on the internet.
As someone who has gone through USCIS to immigrate to the US, I can say what was done to them was predatory. These people were put into the USCIS system with falsified random homeless shelter addresses. They were shipped to Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday night, but some of them had USCIS/ICE appointments at these fake addresses - across the country in Washington state - the following Monday.
Missing your USCIS/ICE appointment is a huge fucking deal, and could have destroyed any chance they had of properly going through the system. To try and trick these people doing their best to go through the system like that if completely fucked up.
Your claims concerned me enough to research this further. According to the NYT the addresses of 'random' homeless shelters were entered by federal agents. Apparently it's standard practice to list the address of a homeless shelter in the city that the immigrant claims to be traveling to, if that immigrant does not have an address in that city to provide the agents when they are being taken into custody. Nobody had any appointments that they were at risk of missing; they don't happen that fast. These people are all recent arrivals.

>>>You support all the same shit that Desantis does, as long as it's Biden or Obama or Clinton doing it.
So Biden and Obama and Clinton are tricking immigrants on buses to Martha's Vinyard? Because if they weren't, this argument would make no sense.
There may be some things that Obama and Biden and Clinton have done that De Santis also does that I support, or maybe things that I'll put up with from Democrats, but if you want to pretend to be actually saying something about actual events and not just sadly making yourself the center of attention yet again, you need to tell us what these things are.
This is a political stunt by Republicans to expose the hypocrisy of the Democrats' policy of open borders, but Democrats don't actually have a policy of open borders. and so that just adds a layer of dishonesty and a layer of stupidity to the cruelty, the exploitation and the grandstanding. I don't know how it compares to other aspects of the immigrant's experience, and maybe I don't really care about immigrants, because what bothers me the most about this is how it contributes further shittiness to our shitty political culture. Whatever the solution to immigration may be, this kind of godawful poitical theater is taking us further away from it.
Cracker, I'm not sure where you got all of your information. The predatory part of what Desantis' did was sending these people to another geographical location where it would be costly/ impossible to actually make those ICE check-in appointments (which again, not sure why you're saying they didn't have those.)
Further, they were given incorrect instructions which would have invalidated any proper immigration status changes they attempted to do, basically forcing them to be deported

Oh and 5 for fucking evil. Fuck DeSantis and everyone involved.

DeSantis must be thrilled that someone is interested in him for the first time in his life.

My "esteemed" Governor...
Nice to know my state is in the hands of of an Internet troll with access to millions of taxpayer dollars.
He also used "leftover" COVID relief funds (i.e. funds he didn't want to spend protecting us from COVID or treating its victims because he wanted to pretend it wasn't a huge threat) to give people who travel toll roads a "toll holiday."
Only rich fucks take the toll roads.
He's going to run for President in 2024.
Biden recommended that the 'leftover' covid funds be given to cops.
Crack the pandemic is over, those federally distributed funds need to be responsibly redirected. Would they not be better spent on improving law enforcement - with its myriad inadequacies exacerbated by the conditions of the pandemic - over toll holidays? Does one choice seem more responsible, and the other more political? A rhetorical question, obviously.
John Holmes Motherfucker
>>>Biden recommended that the 'leftover' covid funds be given to cops.
See, if you were actually making an argument, here's where you would explain how this is a bad idea.
well for starters 400 Americans are still dying of covid everyday and the only reason it was declared to be "over" was to appease the business interests that have complete control of the Democratic Party

Whattaboutism only really works if both options aren’t preferable.
I would like to sample your rant from 'Reviewing "Atlas Shrugged" - Chapter One' about Moe Howard being a symbol of strength in a new song I'm working on. Would you be okay with that?
