1998, season nine. The most generous estimates put the beginning of Zombie Simpsons at the start of season twelve.

Simpsons go to Africa was what did it for me.

It’s strange, I actually quote parts of the first part of the episode and remember it fondly (“I want to dance with a giraffe, have a tea party with a zebra, and shoot a lion in the face”) but the exact moment that the zombification begins is the Jane Goodall gorilla diamond-mine reveal towards the end.

I actually turned the episode off at that point. This was a first for me.

But where else are legacy Harvard students gonna go pitch absolutely tired crap in a writers room filled with their fellow pledges?

Armin Tanzerian was what did it for me. It was so against the long history of Seymour Skinner they'd developed and so out of character for the person we'd gotten to know.

I kept watching and there were still some fun episodes in those sunset years but that was when I hit the same place garcet did in terms of not planning my week around it.

I now work with people that were born after 2020 and it's hard to explain that once upon a time the bar lights would come up on Thursday at 8 and the music stopped and everyone shut up and watched the Simpsons for 30 minutes. It was a thing that I don't think will ever be repeated again.

What job has you mingle with forced toddler labor??

I meant 2000 but them 2-year-olds can heft rocks with the best of 'em.
