Fuckin' Combine...

jfcaron_ca - 2022-10-17 I wonder if this inspired some of the design for the Half-Life 2 tower thing. They definitely have some similarities.

garcet71283 - 2022-10-22 Was gonna say shades of City 17.

Less 3D printing, more LEGO.

jfcaron_ca - 2022-10-17 Yar, but I felt the tag was worth adding because of the similar concept.

I'm not sure Zuse was a member of the Nazi party.
|
garcet71283 - 2022-10-22 As a 2nd generation German with a grandfather who fought in the eastern front… I can say you get used to there not being a distinction.

jfcaron_ca - 2022-10-22 "While Zuse never became a member of the Nazi Party, he is not known to have expressed any doubts or qualms about working for the Nazi war effort. Much later, he suggested that in modern times, the best scientists and engineers usually have to choose between either doing their work for more or less questionable business and military interests in a Faustian bargain, or not pursuing their line of work at all."
So he was aware of the evil around him and chose to collaborate to further his personal & professional interests. He justified it with cynicism. I don't think he was even wrong about the state of modern science in the 1930s & 40s, but there you go.
