I like to think of it as a horror film set in an alternate universe America where if you fall short in something they fucking kill you instead of laughing at you on the internet. Because there is that whole state sanctioned mass murder sub-plot.

There was a plan early on to make it a straight up horror flick, which apparently explains the terrifying designs of the GPKs.

I've never seen this movie all the way through, and this review was my first introduction to the entire plot. Needless to say, that backhanded "the rest of them just got executed" line was a bit of a shock.
