I bought an old copy of this game years ago but was never able to get it to work on my computer. Now I'm all disappointed again.

smoothbrain - 2007-07-23

Same here, I was all psyched to play it but I can't get it to run.

vissarion - 2007-07-23

It works on my current PC... only thing is that the Direct3D acceleration is buggy so I can only use the low-res textures.

yoyo1 - 2007-07-24

I managed to get it working but found it boring and pretentious so I uninstalled.
I also think the monkey Island jokes stopped being funny after the first episode.

Grim fandango is one probably the worst Lucasarts games when it comes to playability. The whole game feels like a 3D test, it's buggy as hell and you can never figure out what things on screen are actually usable and/or how can you walk to them. The idea and story are good, but ruined by the awful technical implementation.

P.S. I hate Monkey Island 4 for the same reason.

It's not THAT bad. The story was interesting and the puzzles were fun.

Monkey Island III was probably, however, the pinnacle of Lucas Arts adventure gaming.

SharoKham - 2007-07-23

I could overlook all that until the damned forklift puzzle, where the controls fuck up a simple thing.

Don't forget the awful "immersive" inventory where you couldn't just click what you wanted but had to shuffle through the whole goddamn thing.

Outstanding art, writing, and setting. Awful interface and puzzles. The bonecrumb trail one finally broke me.

don't listen to these pessimists. Play Grim Fandango and form your own opinion.
my opinion: ranks alongside monkey island 3, beneath a steel sky and sam & max

The 'technical implementation' is mildly annoying, sometimes. Concept, characterisation, dialogue, art design, script, voice acting and story have all yet to be bettered, and the game itself plays as well as can be expected for what is essentially a point-and-clicker.

It also works fine on all my computers since 2003. You guys are running it in Windows 95 mode, yes?

Merzbau - 2007-07-23

I loved this game, and dammit, it would make a PERFECT movie.

FABIO2 - 2007-10-04

Sure as hell would make a better animated movie than talking cars or a goddamn rat who wants to become a chef.

Best adventure game ever made.
