ya know, say what you want about Nazis but you can't deny they're pretty much the greatest villains ever.

The sound designers won an Oscar for this film. One notable point was mixing a tiger's roar with the sound of the truck engine.

You really have to admire those motorcycle guys' devotion to duty. They get run off the road and flipped into a river, and they immediately pick themselves up and try to get right back on. I would've just taken the rest of the day off.

I also admire Jones' suicidal bravado. "I'm going to steal a horse and jump right into a truck full of Nazis and hope that things work out for the best." What the fuck was he thinking?

Extra bonus fact: the original screenplay had the evil Nazi commander guy (who throws the melon) with a gatling-gun-arm, but obviously special effects at the time proved too annoying and time consuming to work with to make it work without being a huge pain in the ass.

This is all going to be CGI in the next movie =(
