I don't much like Japanese cartoons, but this movie was pretty good.

Whatever this is linked to is blocked at work, but this movie gets an automatic five for all time.

Liked the movie well enough, but this isn't even a legal gray area. This, on a much larger scale, is why the tvlinks guy got vanned.

Normally I love all anime, but I can't help hating a film this beautiful and well-made.

Man, I really hate black guys but that Humpty Dance isn't half bad.

Miyazaki's work doesn't deserve the stigma that most Japanese animation automatically gets. He's the current animator everyone wishes they could be...and he tells a decent story on top of that.

I heard this was good so I gave it a chance once. It was terrible and a waste of time, and put me off anime forever. This is the queerest shit I've ever seen, fucking cutesy bullshit.

This movie is fucking awesome. Miyazaki is incredible, a true artist.

Watching his beautiful films makes me increasingly more pissed off at the shitty computer-generated crap that the U.S. is churning out. Sure, Finding Nemo had some beautiful visual effects, but will CG feature-length films ever be as organic and lovely as Miyazaki's work? No. No, it will not, and everybody who gets all frantic over how neat Toy Story 7 is can go suck a bloody tampon because nothing Pixar will ever do can possibly hold a candle to Princess Mononoke or Nausicaa or Spirited Away or any of his other films.

SUCK MY DICK, CG ANIMATION!

I'd give it four because it was one of my lesser favorite Miyazaki movies.. but, really, that would just make me a dick.

Fun Fact:

The Emishi were an inidgienous group in Japan that were marginalized and largely exterminated by the Yamato through a series of bloody wars around 700 AD. Princess Mononoke is kind of like a Souix trying to mediate between the Railroad companies and the buffalo.

I love Miyazaki, but I think this has to be one of his weakest works.
Still...five for making a story with fully fleshed-out and relatable characters on all sides.

If this was a South Park episode everyone here would be bashing it for being a wishy washy "find a middle ground between two extremes" preachy message.
