I don't much like Japanese cartoons, but this movie was pretty good.

Caminante Nocturno - 2007-11-02

Oh, you're so full of shit. You probably typed that up in your favorite Naruto costume, you fucking liar.

Hooker - 2007-11-02

Whatever this is linked to is blocked at work, but this movie gets an automatic five for all time.

Hooker - 2007-11-02

PS: All non-Miyazaki anime sucks hardcore.

anvill - 2007-11-02

Liked the movie well enough, but this isn't even a legal gray area. This, on a much larger scale, is why the tvlinks guy got vanned.

Thundercougarfalconbird - 2007-11-02

I could just be speaking outta my ass, but even though POETV and TVLinks provide the same service (the linking to videos hosted at other sites), the laws surrounding this service are different in the UK, and thats why TV-links got vanned.

Also, Miyazaki, you are my hero.

a flaming monkey - 2007-11-02

my lawyer says this is completely cooool [sic].

Caminante Nocturno - 2007-11-02

Normally I love all anime, but I can't help hating a film this beautiful and well-made.

ztc - 2007-11-02

Man, I really hate black guys but that Humpty Dance isn't half bad.

sosage - 2007-11-02

Miyazaki's work doesn't deserve the stigma that most Japanese animation automatically gets. He's the current animator everyone wishes they could be...and he tells a decent story on top of that.

glasseye - 2007-11-02

Good stuff.

theSnake - 2007-11-02

I heard this was good so I gave it a chance once. It was terrible and a waste of time, and put me off anime forever. This is the queerest shit I've ever seen, fucking cutesy bullshit.

Keefu - 2007-11-02

:

Keefu - 2007-11-02

Oops, didn't mean to do that

ztc - 2007-11-02

Is 4chan shut or something? We seem to be receiving quite a bit of tardbin overspill.

Shion - 2007-11-02

Hi theSnake. Tell me, they call you the Snake in real life right? So are you a ninja too? Maybe you're a bouncer, perhaps a movie producer. I'm sure you're highly sensitive to the queer shit.

Always 5 stars for Miyazaki.

sosage - 2007-11-02

Yes. He is called "TheSnake" in real life. As far as tough guy names go, his lacks originality. Maybe "Rattler" or "Slither" would have been better. I would have even accepted "Venom".

Quad9Damage - 2007-11-03

Oh, I get it now. You hate everything. That's very clever and original, no one has ever taken on that persona!

NoCode - 2007-11-02

This movie is fucking awesome. Miyazaki is incredible, a true artist.

Watching his beautiful films makes me increasingly more pissed off at the shitty computer-generated crap that the U.S. is churning out. Sure, Finding Nemo had some beautiful visual effects, but will CG feature-length films ever be as organic and lovely as Miyazaki's work? No. No, it will not, and everybody who gets all frantic over how neat Toy Story 7 is can go suck a bloody tampon because nothing Pixar will ever do can possibly hold a candle to Princess Mononoke or Nausicaa or Spirited Away or any of his other films.

SUCK MY DICK, CG ANIMATION!

Also if you don't think this movie is amazing you are a choad (Nausicaa, too)

p.s. TheSnake is a foul douchebag.

Goofy Gorilla - 2007-11-03

I think this movie is incredible AND computer graphics can be amazing. Don't be Kricfalusi, NoCode; that guy has mental problems.

revdrew - 2007-11-02

I'd give it four because it was one of my lesser favorite Miyazaki movies.. but, really, that would just make me a dick.

Pacobird - 2007-11-02

Fun Fact:

The Emishi were an inidgienous group in Japan that were marginalized and largely exterminated by the Yamato through a series of bloody wars around 700 AD. Princess Mononoke is kind of like a Souix trying to mediate between the Railroad companies and the buffalo.

Spastic Avenger - 2008-02-25

They were a southern branch of the cultural family that includes the still extant Sakhalin and Hokkaido Ainu.

Aubrey McFate - 2007-11-04

I love Miyazaki, but I think this has to be one of his weakest works.
Still...five for making a story with fully fleshed-out and relatable characters on all sides.

FABIO2 - 2008-03-19

If this was a South Park episode everyone here would be bashing it for being a wishy washy "find a middle ground between two extremes" preachy message.

Bort - 2009-12-11

This WAS a "South Park" episode, the one with Rob Reiner and the anti-smoking conspiracy. Notice that "Princess Mononoke" is graceful, entertaining, and nuanced, while the "South Park" in question is not.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-07

I once heard a young girl buying CDs unfavorably compare the Louis Armstrong discs at the counter to Usher, because an Usher song she knew included trumpets.

You're dumber.
