Anything that brings activism back to this country can't be a bad thing.

Menudo con queso - 2008-02-01

Why does their voice generator sound so much more clear than Furluminati's?

theSnake - 2008-02-01

I've been following this since they started. The so called "Super Hackers" at Project Chanology are using individual Denial of Service attacks to bring down lesser scientology sites and got scientology.org down for a short while. As far as I know its not even a so-called DDoS attack (Distributed Denial of Servic) since they aren't even using a virus to infect machines that carry out the attack. Its a bunch of /b/tard kids doing it on their own machines. Color me unimpressed.

5 stars for stupidity on all sides.

EvilHomer - 2008-02-01

I hate Scientology as much as the next guy, but isn't gunning for Scientology a bit "old meme"? Is there anyone who ISN'T "aware" of Scientology? It's like the btards just now figured out that Scientology was a Very Bad Thing, and everyone else feels too sorry for them to mention that yes, thanks, we know already.

That said, it might be interesting to see what happens when the average age of /b/ hits about 17 or 18. My money's on "Anonymous for a Free Tibet": hai gais, guess wat? TIBETANS DOES NOT LIEK CHINA, SRSLY, CHINA = FAIL!!!, all accompanied by pictures of kitties making icky faces superimposed over photos of Beijing and political prisons.

In response to EvilHomer: I doubt most people know how truly insane Scientology is. Their members sure don't.

Part of me really wants to not underestimate these guys (and I know they're all just 4chan/SA type people), but I have a feeling that not much will come from this.

EvilHomer - 2008-02-02

I could be biased here- there was a student group at my high school who used to hand out fliers on how Scientologist "medical centers" refused to treat patients or send them to proper hospitals, resulting in a number of easily-preventable deaths, so I got the 'Scientologists are whacky" talk awhile ago. But if South Park does episodes on it, it has to be known by at least half the population, right?

Regardless, Scientology isn't going to be fazed just because a bunch of kids flung i-poop at it. Crazy though they are, they're also a hell of lot more resourceful than the standard marks, like furries and emo kids. If the Internet Hate Machine can't drive penniless, suicide prone, basement dwelling losers into extinction, what chance have they got against legions of glassy eyed upper-middle class zombies armed with the latest in token celebrities and cutting edge legal teams?

a flaming monkey - 2008-02-02

I have no faith in anonymous, though they are sometimes good for the Lulz.

grimetooth - 2008-02-02

I've witnessed the insanity of Scientology first hand. It is something that is hurting many people and definitely worth fighting against. I think the whole robot voice anonymous thing is a bit silly, but I will be attending the protest in my area.

coprolalia - 2008-02-02

Everybody's aware of the crazy now, but not the evil.
You hear a lot of "Yeah, but is that really any worse than major religions?" still.

yoyo1 - 2008-02-05

I'd like to see anonymous vs AlQaeda someday.

Dr Dim - 2008-02-01

It's a great video, but I have a feeling that slowing down some of their web sites is not going to be the death blow to Scientology.

Jeff Fries - 2008-02-01

The aesthetic of these videos seems to be influenced by equal parts Koyaanisqatsi and Unsolved Mysteries

ZawBanjito - 2008-02-02

They want us to know all these things, they could've just linked us to Wikipedia and shut up.

Camonk - 2008-02-02

"bring light to the darkness." They actually said that? If that wasn't just my ears going insane, then I honestly have to hope that every last one of them dies from cancer of the entire body.

kingarthur - 2008-02-02

Have a little hope, you cynical bastards. Just close your eyes and say, "I do believe in Anonymous. I do I do I do believe in Anonymous!"

That said, I'd like to think for a minute that this would work or at least make many more people aware of Scientology's numerous evils.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-02-02

2 stars for deluded self importance. 3 stars for pissing off Scientologists.

Also, I would love to see the outcome of this act of solidarity. It'll be a bunch of fat nerds who won't know what to do. Oh, glorious Internet, hallowed be your name.

coprolalia - 2008-02-02

Hey, 4channers.

CoS has an army of lawyers, private detectives and vacant-eyed Sea Org staff, piles of cash, guns, and a disavowed policy to do whatever they can get away with to destroy their perceived enemies.

Maybe you'd better stick to your little meme-heavy sandbox and slow-target 'lulzcows', and write your representatives or something.

afp3683 - 2008-02-02

Unfortunately I have to work, otherwise I'd pick up an afro wig on my way to the local protest spot and check it out for a while. Perhaps with a sign that reads "Tom Cruise eats human placenta"

yoyo1 - 2008-02-05

wouldn't it be awesome if scientology somehow amalgamated "the anonymous" as an antagonist figure of their pantheon?
