According to Wiki, he'd listened to Dennis Leary's "No Cure for Cancer" on the drive there, and was really pissed off at Leary for stealing his material.
I'm glad the one idiot stops trying to be funny and lets Hicks go off on his own. You can watch Hicks coming up with ideas that made it into his routine.

voodoo_pork - 2008-03-01 That story is expanded on in "American Scream", Cynthia True's bio of Hicks. Leary repeated ripped off Hicks and other Austin comedians, like Jimmy Pineapple, Sam Kinison, etc ad naseum.
He wasn't really pissed that Leary blatantly stole from him, Leary had been doing that for years (Jim Fix, a lot of smoking material) and Hicks let it slide. Leary was a much younger and inexperienced comedian, and the comics lifted each other's stuff all the time. It was the fact Leary recorded it, actually laid it down on tape.

No matter how many times you repeat yourself it's not going to be funny, Bill.

coprolalia - 2008-03-02 Let's see you improvise in front of a massive standoff while cancer slowly destroys your body, cunt.

Vicious - 2008-03-02 Explain how this is funny. The two quips he breaks out may have been worth a chuckle one time, but when he repeats them every 20 seconds it's simply irritating.
