DM fiat, fucker. Deal with it.

TinManic - 2008-05-03

that's how my party of level 5's beat the terrasque, a pheonix AND a tanari in a single epic battle. lame DM.

Lurchi - 2008-05-03

Fuck Uni.

Baldurs' Gate 2 had a shop that made fun of these characters.

ztc - 2008-05-03

1. Venger looks like a genuinely evil bastard in the intro.

2. "Eric's contrary nature was mandated by parents groups and consultants to push the then dominant pro-social moral for cartoons of "The group is always right; the complainer is always wrong."

3. Diana is 14? I feel so dirty

FABIO2 - 2008-05-03

This would be taken to the next level with Captain Planet where the task of complainer fell to Wheeler, the American white male.

Xenocide - 2008-05-03

Despite this, Eric the complainer saves all their lives in the intro. Fuck yeah, Eric.

Binro the Heretic - 2008-05-03

Eric was my favorite. He was the only character who actually had to evolve over the course of the show. Everyone else was already a goody-two-shoes. Eric was a neglected rich kid who had looked after himself for so long he had become self-centered. He had to learn how to become reliable and rely on others. On top of all that, he was voiced by Don Most who had played Ralph Malph on "Happy Days.

Also, the show was written by Mark Evanier who would go on to co-write the legendary comic "Groo the Wanderer" along with Mad Magazine alum Sergio Aragones.

I gave you my lunch money, now let me out of this fucking locker!

Monchiles Monchiles - 2008-05-03

That was pretty awesome. Now I kinda want to watch this. The intro has served its purpose. Five stars.

FABIO2 - 2008-05-03

I'm pretty sure this was already here. In fact someone made the same exact level 1/tiamat joke.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-05-03

The reason Eric was always so grumpy is because he had twice as many levels as the other characters, and Dungeon Master wouldn't let him do anything until everyone else caught up.

Gerhard - 2008-05-03

This is 5 million times worse than I remember it, a pox on Youtube for slapping my rose coloured glasses from my spotty memory.

garcet71283 - 2008-05-03

Of course, black chick is the acrobat.

Extra stars for how dark this show was at times. I remember that in one episode, they all go berzerk and want to brutally murder Venger out of frustration or something.

Zarathustra00 - 2008-05-03

http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=22786 Part 1 of that episode. I forget what prompted their decision to kill Venger besides the numerous attempts on their lives.

steelcat - 2008-05-03

I remember, as a kid, having my doubts about whether any amusement park in the country would ever be allowed to have a ride like that.

Rafiki - 2008-05-03

This is sort of already here. It's somewhere in the middle of the "30 Minutes of 80s Cartoon Openings" clip.

Xenocide - 2008-05-03

This is so inaccurate. The Dungeon Master is an ugly repulsive bald guy.

Hooker - 2008-05-03

They didn't even get to pick their classes?

ponpoko - 2008-05-03

i totally wanna dual class a cavalier/acrobat, all pole-vaulting around and blocking shit with my shield
also SUDDENLY LASER MOUSTACHE SATAN

baleen - 2008-05-04

One of my secret guilty favorite things about neverwinter nights is the DM avatar you use in multiplayer mode is a perfect copy of the DM from this cartoon...

StanleyPain - 2008-05-04

Notice that the little guy is simply "Dungeonmaster" not THE Dungeonmaster. So...basically the underlying message of this show was that the reason the kids were trapped there and constantly being fucked with was because the original scenario was taken over by THIS clown who was clearly not the real Dungeonmaster so that way everyone would come over to his house and he could pretend, for once, that he was the DM, only he was a really bad DM.

Yeah.

Jimmy Labatt - 2008-05-04

The very fact that you guys are pontificating on the merits of the D&D cartoon show reminds me of why I love this place so very much.

Venger was great; Uni sucks a nut.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-05-05

Eric was the only interesting one. The episode that stands out in my memory is the one where he gets Dungeonmaster's powers and becomes wise by the end, because with power comes the wisdom to use it or some bullshit.

The movie should have been based on this.

Pillager - 2011-08-06

I wish Gary Gygax had been allowed to get rid of Bobby & Uni.
