...The Soviet standard of living is constantly rising, while our economy remains mired in inflation.
...The Japanese are poised to take over many of America's largest corporations.
...Our chump President treats the economy the way a teenage girl treats her parents' credit card.
We'll get by. Our economy is still so much stronger and more resilient than any other, and even in our leanest times we're still top dog. This film is certainly timely, because debt is a crisis both on the personal and national level, but it seems a bit sensationalist.

DopeFiend - 2008-07-29 Adham, it was trendy in the middle days of the Roman Republic for the intellectual elite to complain that Rome's glory days of strength and prosperity were long past, and that decline was imminent. In terms of sheer economic and military strength, the best was yet to come (I'm just talking about power here, not moral rectitude). Negativity ("declinism"?) has always enjoyed a certain chic in any superpower.

This is my kind of horror flick. Forget ghosts or children who do weird things--give me something more real.

Oh hooray u gais, another documentary movie film here to tell us what most uf us already knew, but doesn't offer any sort of solution to the problem.
|
EnochEmery - 2008-07-28 Oh come on, you know what the solution is. Cuts in social programs. Right after the next couple of wars.
|
Xenocide - 2008-07-28 That's why it's called a documentary. It documents the problem. What you want is a solutionumentary. But those are rare, because I just made them up.

This isn't news to anyone who's been paying attention. So I guess they'll have a large US audience ..
|
waxeater - 2008-07-28 Yeah, the real problem with this is going to be that the people who know are going to be the only ones interested in seeing this. It's the same problem Super Size Me faced, and I guess pretty much every mainstream documentary ever.

Posting this on the day they announced that next year we'll have a half-trillion dollar deficit? You get major points for timing, Rodents.

They need to rethink how they do these documentaries. I WAS scared about our economy until they set it to generic rock music and swooping flash intertitles. An extra star for my adorable black grandchildren.
