Adham, it was trendy in the middle days of the Roman Republic for the intellectual elite to complain that Rome's glory days of strength and prosperity were long past, and that decline was imminent. In terms of sheer economic and military strength, the best was yet to come (I'm just talking about power here, not moral rectitude). Negativity ("declinism"?) has always enjoyed a certain chic in any superpower.

500 years from now, they'll talk about how trendy it was for the middle American to reassuringly dismiss the imminent consequences of making up a war to profit from it every time they had to pay for the financial recoil of the last one.

That being said, yes, the trailer is presented in a somewhat sensationalist way.

Oh come on, you know what the solution is. Cuts in social programs. Right after the next couple of wars.

That's why it's called a documentary. It documents the problem. What you want is a solutionumentary. But those are rare, because I just made them up.
