One of the most memorable childhood films. I actually watched it again a couple of years ago.

things I learned from this movie:
you have to have a lot of balls when you die
the afterlife is non-linear
hell is mostly composed of guts and chicken wire
when you go to heaven you become a piece of morphing origami

all I learned is that Lillian's vision is a bit fisheyed

Desidiosus - 2008-08-04

I learned Lillian has an evil sister who works in a mental institution.

The thousand-yard-stare from Deer Hunter.

I like this movie, but this clip sucks balls, which is why I voted it down in the hopper. Basically, someone took all the "death tape" scenes and sloppily edited them together into some fucking jumble where they are basically meaningless outside the context and order they are played in the movie. I dunno..I thought it was stupid. It also ruins one of the greatest pieces of music James Horner ever created.

understandable, and somewhat my reaction on first viewing, but then I figured the whole unedited thing would never fit in YouTube's 10 minute limit anyway, so why not? And I don't think its any more meaningless and jumbled out of context than in, since Doug Trumble just basically did 5 minutes of his 2001 slitscan stuff plus some more heavenly effects and then spread it all out in the edit. iIt's just non-linear eye-candy, except for the galaxy and the very end with the morphing origami souls.

Am I the only one here that remembers acoustic coupled modems? Visions of Heaven at 300 baud, baby.

NOW YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN

We had the first model of Hayes Smartmodems, which cost about 0 in 1983. My dad was something of a nerd, and he worked for the government, so maybe he wrote it off in his taxes. My two nerdy friends had 300's and they were really, really jealous. They would come over just to see it.
