It's very difficult to be that smart. Most people who are that smart never leave the house, or they become experts in linguistics or something and make other people feel like shit for a living. Fry is a pretty nice man though.

I blame his bipolar. In his manic phase he has an incredibly sharp and dickish wit. He'll skewer someone, but then he'll get all sad and huggable.

Nah, he's an asshole. He runs a private club at Oxford, where membership is only granted following an interview with your parents. The idea is, of course, that your parents are in a suitable professional situation to "help out" other members of the club later in life. Bare-faced old boys' network, really.

Are you referring to the QI club? He doesn't even run that anymore, if so. Anybody is allowed to go in and get drunk there, it's just expensive.

Is it? I don't know man, this was a couple of years ago when I was still at university... he was definitely still in charge of the club itself, and still interviewing prospective members' parents.

If you haven't seen those you've got hours of fun ahead of you. They are both chock full of Mitchell, sadly no Fry.

If you love panel shows, try watching a couple of hours of TV in the UK on a Friday night. They'll swiftly lose their allure.
