Awwwwkward. Cautiously admitting that he's against Roe v. Wade in front of a 99% female studio and home audience is probably the most honest thing McCain has said or done in at least a year. Possibly the stupidest too, but that's politics for ya.

sliggy - 2008-09-12

I liked the boos.

TeenerTot - 2008-09-12

This issue tends to get me riled, so I'll shut up and 5 star it.

waxeater - 2008-09-12

"Even though you have my vote!"

Kiss ass harpy.

StanleyPain - 2008-09-12

it isn't McCain being honest. It's McCain doing his usual pandering. McCain never came out against abortion until only about a year ago, maybe longer, when he realized it would get him political alignment points with more neo-con supporters. Prior to that, he had vocally opposed overturning Roe v wade. So, you would say "oh it takes balls to say this on what is ostensibly a women's show" but it doesn't. It's McCain waving and mugging to the camera to all the anti-abortion folk going "SEE I WILL EVEN SAY THIS SHIT ON A SHOW LIKE THIS!" to prove he is one of the faithful. he doesn't actually care. McCain doesn't give one shit about abortion either way. He doing this solely for the political advantage and trying to regain some republican street cred.

Also, unfortunately way too many women in this country don't give a shit about women's issues.

Frank Rizzo - 2008-09-12

funny, he was fine with it a year or so back. Said something along the lines of overturning it would only cause women to seek out dangerous and illegal abortions.

5 for evil sellout hack

RIP John McCain: 1936 - 2000

baleen - 2008-09-12

you think? you think? don't take it for granted. liberals suffer from the delusion that him saying this somehow makes 30 million fucking idiot Fundie Christians go out and vote and give him money.

baleen - 2008-09-12

I mean... nevermind.

Brautwurst_Barbarian - 2008-09-12

"So should I be worried about slavery being reinstated?"

I now love Whoppi Goldberg.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-09-12

She is clearly disgusted with him.

Testicles of Doom - 2008-09-12

I realized Whoopi wasn't as bad as she seemed when she destroyed Sherri Shepherd about the flat earth thing.

Camonk - 2008-09-12

Both McCain and Palin have given some horrible interviews lately, like the one Palin did with ABC where she doesn't even know what the Bush Doctrine is.

kiint - 2008-09-12

sad thing is it probably won't hurt them much

Hooper_X - 2008-09-12

I love that tired old chestnut. WELL IT'S NOT THAT I WANT TO BAN ABORTION, I JUST THINK IT SHOULD BE UP TO THE STATES TO DECIDE.

At which point the ENTIRE south and midwest not only pass or reinstate existing abortion bans, they promptly pass laws making it a felony offense to transport women across state lines for the purpose of getting a legal abortion elsewhere.

At which point, the only way to get one will be to hire the goddamned Bandit to drive you to Massachusetts before Smokey and the Coathanger get you.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-09-12

100% pussyfooting. The guy had more of my respect before I saw him backtracking nervously in front of none other than WHOOPIE GOLDBERG, of all people.

Cleaner82 - 2008-09-12

He's a liar, and so he is able to drop the face he is wearing today to any degree if it will get him to better ground. He's just like you, Bill!

Billy Buttsex - 2008-09-12

The fact that you're saying this without any sort of recognition for Obama's position changes makes me smile, because you're a total dumbass.

*COUGH* RETROACTIVE CORPORATE IMMUNITY *COUGH*

Cleaner82 - 2008-09-12

You would have to provide me with sources, as any words written under the name "Billy Buttsex" are by default vile lies.

Billy Buttsex - 2008-09-12

Whoops!

Cleaner82 - 2008-09-12

I didn't say they couldn't be true, just that the were lies by *default*. You will note that Obama discusses at length the reason for the change. This is far and above McCain's approach to those who point out contradictions, which is to insist that he has never changed his mind on anything and we're all dreaming.

kingarthur - 2008-09-13

If he wins this thing, it will only serve as confirmation of how shit-dribbling stupid half of America is. Me...I'll be finding a nice country with socialized medicine.

casualcollapse - 2020-08-28

aww now I'm sad,
you didn't have it when you died
