He's 73. He's had cancer umpteen times. He pulls whacked out political stunts like picking Palin for a running mate and "suspending" his campaign to "fix" the economy. And, oh yeah, he's willing to completely change his politics at the drop of a hat in order to curt the whacko right wing vote.

The only explanation I'm left with is an unbridled lust for power.

Ok, so maybe this makes me bad people, but I don't want a 73 y old president. When you are 73, you should be throwing things at uppity young'uns and pining for the good old days - which I guess this guy does, but that's not what a prsident is for.

He voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, a whacko rightwing bill that was basically a bait and tackle bill from the fundies. Essentially, it states that babies that are born alive should never be killed, or else that's murder. Duh. But if a baby is born with a fatal deformity (such as with precious anencephalic angels*), wherein it will die a vegetable in five months, for instance, things get more complicated.

That kind of gray area (or seeping neural tubeless lack of it) doesn't fly with most Republicans, so they attacked him on that.

I don't quite understand why the left has attacked Obama about his "lack of Voting" in the Senate as much as the right. It's such a non-issue. He was a freshman senator trying to both build coalitions and establish himself on selective issues, which is sort of normal in the U.S. Senate if you have half a brain and some ambition to stay there.
