Let's see...so his dad was an alcoholic, a compulsive gambler, and beat the hell out of his mother and his son. His mom refused to take responsibility for anything and shifted blame onto everybody else around her for the family's unhappiness.
Well the whole effect is just ruined because I spent like five minutes trying to figure out what martain was and if maybe it's like a fancy brand name or a place or whatever, so that when I finally shifted my eyes downward it was really too late.
