I haven't been able to stop whistling the Chrono Trigger theme since watching this.

I saw this in person, on the highway just east of Drayton Valley on my drive home from work.

I don't know if I can really find the words for it and I hate to break out the old "They should have sent a poet" thing. At the time I wasn't very eloquent and in fact, as people have suggested, I do believe my first words were "HOLY SHIT"

The video is excellent, but it does not really grasp the sheer size (illusionary, I know) of this thing. Nor the mixed feelings of awe, wonder, and irrational terror it inspired.

I had a slightly better view of it than this cruiser did, and of course my eyes don't suffer the same flare problems as a camera lens. What we see here as bright white flashes was, in fact, a fucking pillar of fire like something out of the bible. I saw it "explode" three times before it slipped out of my view.

It was incredible.

A few years ago I drove out to the country to watch the Perseids. I sat in some farmer's field for hours and didn't see anything even remotely like this.

I want my money back :(
