Seriously, Christianity? This is the best you can do? For the last 2000-odd years of human society, you guys fucking BROUGHT it. Handel's "Messiah," DaVinci's "Last Supper," all those Gregorian chants, the cathedrals, all of it was done for Jesus.

But since about 1970, you guys have just been relegated to filing the serial numbers off of whatever the kids think is cool, slapping a "Jesus ROCKS!" sticker on it, and calling it a day. It's kind of sad, Christianity. You could be doing a hell of a lot better, no pun intended.

Goethe and ernie - 2008-11-30

Five stars for that alone. Truth.

VoilaIntruder - 2008-11-30

You make a very good point.

Timothy A. Bear - 2008-11-30

Ten spirit bulbs for this comment.

The problem is patronage. If you don't have the equivalent of a Bill Gates willing to pay the best people to do the best work, any church-extraneous artistic activity is at the mercy of the market, and it sinks to the level of 'Got Christ?' bumperstickers.

All the new arrivals in Heaven get to live in a trailer park made out of clouds.

DerangedGoblin - 2008-11-30

This makes twenty stars for you.

Camonk - 2008-11-30

I think this makes it 27? I don't know. I'm not good at math.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-11-30

Even the plot isn't original.

kamlem - 2008-11-30

From the makers of "2012: Doomsday" and "The Apocalypse" comes an uplifting story of gods love...

futurebot - 2008-11-30

That is the whitest inner city church singing black gospel I've ever seen.

Toenails - 2008-11-30

5 stars for the gay dance/drama teacher featured at :49.

But I agree with Hooper X up there. I mean they didn't even bother to come up with a more original title, they just simply took the easy route (i.e. Snakes on a Train, Transmorphers, DaVinci Treasure, etc.).

DerangedGoblin - 2008-11-30

I'm just glad Mo Rocca's doing okay now.

Hooper_X - 2008-11-30

Man yeah, that was my original comment - even a Jesus-approved family safe film still needs the cliched prancing faggot to be in charge of the musical.

(I bet they try and subvert it by having him be totally flaming but also married with kids. Or maybe he went to Ex-Gay Camp and now he's recovered. Or maybe he's just the house negro to a community that hates and fears him. Who can say?)

Killer Joe - 2008-11-30

IT'S ALL OVER ME!

StanleyPain - 2008-11-30

Apart from the behind-the-scenes thing of that one girl having nude pictures of herself get on the internet, is there something fundamentally un-Christian about High School Musical that required intervention?

Hooper_X - 2008-11-30

All the songs weren't explicitly about Jesus, I'm guessing. Also, any/all conflict in the plot revolves entirely around bringing people to Jesus/being proud of one's christianity.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-12-01

I'm sure it's just brimming with important issues and substance.

CharlesSmith - 2009-03-03

That's the most low-energy musical I've ever seen, and I worked as a councilor at a stage camp for kids age 6-16.

Clever Name - 2009-06-11

For those not familiar, Faith Films is a division of The Asylum.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-12-08

Ha ha ha ha ha!
