I saw an article about this guy a few years ago (maybe even on poe-news). He had a facial prosthesis (which was pretty horrifying in and of itself). I have a feeling Sci-Fi Channel specifically asked to not show it so they could play up the OMG CRAAAAZY aspect of it.
There's also another guy who has a lot of facial prostheses because of a similar series of events. He was able to keep his eyes but his face is basically a matryoshka doll of interlocking pieces.
I think the lesson to be learned from this is not to snort bread mold. Check your bags of bread for mold before you open them, and if the bread is moldy, THROW IT OUT without opening it. Just to be safe.

In my internship I learned about this beast, and heard from instructors that people have had this start to grow on their hand, and amputating at the elbow still wasn't good enough.
