he wasn't so charlatany here, but that's part of why he's so great. F for Fuck You was a great movie precisely because he was making fun of himself, the art world, the idea that some things have meaning and some don't, and who gets to decide this meaning (him? because he's orson welles?). People despise F for Fake because of its pretentiousness, but I think it's amazing.
