I watched this with my mom, we both agreed that he is a horrible person and should die immediately.

Spike Jonez - 2009-02-12

Yeah, he's a dick, but he's right. She's a dumb, fat, over-opinionated bitch, and she needs to hear it more often until she learns her fucking lesson, like most dumb, fat, over-opinionated Midwestern fucktards.

spikestoyiu - 2009-02-12

At what point during this clip does she prove to be dumb or over-opinionated?

And is there any possible way she could be more "over-opinionated" than this guy?

Spike Jonez - 2009-02-16

There are opinions, and there are informed opinions. Yeah, he's being a dickhead to her, but at what point does she actually prove that she isn't any of the things he's said about her? I don't get the feeling that he's like this constantly, I just get the feeling that he's being protective of his kids' welfare and doesn't want them dumbed down by someone who is intolerant of his lifestyle because she doesn't and cannot understand it.

Spike Jonez - 2009-02-16

Then again, maybe I'm a sociopath and so is he, so I have sympathy. I just generally got the impression that this was edited to make it look more offensive. And I've lived in the Midwest, and I know that a lot of these generalizations aren't over-generalizations.

gazebo - 2009-02-12

She's certified alright!
Thanks, folks, I'm here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

Seriously, that arrogant British asshole needs a good old-fashioned Midwestern asskicking.

RockBolt - 2009-02-12

I'm no fan of the midwest at all, and I'd still beat the shit out of that guy

HankFinch - 2009-02-12

That guy deserves to be followed around and beaten repeatedly.

TeflonDoc - 2009-02-12

That guy doesn't have any problems that can't be fixed with a table leg and about twenty minutes.

wtf japan - 2009-02-12

Here's a slogan tee for you: "cunt."

HankFinch - 2009-02-12

He already has that tatooed on his buttcrack

wtf japan - 2009-02-12

Also: Fowler almost immediately issued an apology in which he claims "some of [his] best friends are Midwesterners."

TeenerTot - 2009-02-12

I'm from Missouri.

For touting himself as a worldy guy, he sure has some nasty, blanketing preconceptions about us.

Be proud of your IQ, you ass. About 75% of POE has an IQ higher than yours. Yes, even me.

Angel Carver - 2009-02-12

There is nothing worse than Europeans of middling intellect who come to America solely in order to run the "I'm smahht because of my accent" con on clueless Americans--"well, he DOES have an accent!"--for the rest of their (the Europeans) lives.

theSnake - 2009-02-12

He's a "Venture Capitalist" and thinks a good GRE score makes him smart? I'd be curious as to how the economic downturn has been treating the Genius.

Jack Dalton - 2009-02-12

You know douchebags like Stephen Fowler exist, but you'd never think a Stephen Fowler would be stupid enough to end up on "Wife Swap". These 5 stars are for the casting director of "Wife Swap".

Gamara II - 2009-02-13

I thought this guy was certainly the reality-TV equivalent of a troll. I can't quite believe people like this exist. I'd like to think he at least had heavy coaching from the directors. I couldn't find anything on google to prove if he's a real person or not, but his wife seems to check out.

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mindforbody.com/

She's had her web page up since 2003. I'm still a bit incredulous, but... obviously the wife's background story can be confirmed back to before this show even existed!

Gamara II - 2009-02-13

Oh god, turns out I know somebody who recently worked with this guy and wrote him a publicly-available recommendation. That's gotta suck to be connected to this guy in any way.

I'm shocked, I guess I had too much faith in humanity, including sociopaths, to believe somebody like this could exist.

kennydra - 2009-02-13

This is television, its all played up for entertainment/to get people riled up. Yes, he's probably a pretentious twat normally, but not to the degree of humiliating someone he's only just met. I'm sorry, I refuse to believe that educated people would do something like that. So, the clip loses a star for crossing into the bizarro realm, I can't suspend my disbelief for this guy, he's too over the top.

Besides, nothing can ever compare to the awesomeness that was the "THEY BELIEVE IN THE MOON!" lady.

simon666 - 2009-02-13

I'm on board here with kennydra, this is produced BS, and it's painfully obvious who the target audience is: the mid-westerner. This episode plays off of commonly understood stereotypes that the working class should/would have about the upper class.

I'm five staring this because it has caused everyone here to loose their sensibility, while simultaneously getting butt-hurt. Yay!

TeenerTot - 2009-02-13

ken: "educated people"?
Like an advanced degree automatically makes you not an asshole???

Cleaner82 - 2009-02-13

Honestly, are you all so sheltered that you cannot believe a person like this exists? I got something that will blow your mind -- WORSE people than this exist. LOTS of them.

simon666 - 2009-02-13

TeenerTot: What comes along with an advanced degree is usually a liberal education, of which, since it is by its very nature is varied in subject matter, provides one with a point of view that incorporates looking at a situation from many vantage points. However, this does not mean one will be a relativist, that is to say nihilist, where every point is valid. What it does mean, generally, is that any conclusion has presumably taken into account many points of view.

But the real point to be made here is this: THIS IS TELEVISION SHOW AND NOT REAL. Seriously people, what the fuck? The tv is not a passive window looking at the rest of the world.

Gamara II - 2009-02-13

I agree this is "reality-TV" and thus selectively edited to have a troll-like effect for midwesterners. But nonetheless I'm surprised they found a real guy to serve that role, rather than an actor. His identity checks out. He's probably an ass, and probably he looks like more of an ass out of context, which was the intention of the directors.

Cleaner82 - 2009-02-13

The English.

allcaps - 2009-02-13

Exactly. The English.

Fur is Murder - 2009-02-13

What an absolutely disgusting pair of parents. I feel bad for their kids, but I also know that those are going to exact some major karmic payback on them at some point in their lives.

Foolish Motorcycle Accident - 2009-02-13

This is anti-liberal porn. It's very good anti-liberal porn, but still.

Hooper_X - 2009-02-13

The point of Wife Swap is that everyone is fucking terrible. This guy is terrible. The midwestern guy is terrible, too.

Spike Jonez - 2009-02-16

Okay, thank you.

chumbucket - 2009-02-13

when are they finally going to convert this show over to Domestic Violence Swap?
