There are opinions, and there are informed opinions. Yeah, he's being a dickhead to her, but at what point does she actually prove that she isn't any of the things he's said about her? I don't get the feeling that he's like this constantly, I just get the feeling that he's being protective of his kids' welfare and doesn't want them dumbed down by someone who is intolerant of his lifestyle because she doesn't and cannot understand it.

Then again, maybe I'm a sociopath and so is he, so I have sympathy. I just generally got the impression that this was edited to make it look more offensive. And I've lived in the Midwest, and I know that a lot of these generalizations aren't over-generalizations.

I thought this guy was certainly the reality-TV equivalent of a troll. I can't quite believe people like this exist. I'd like to think he at least had heavy coaching from the directors. I couldn't find anything on google to prove if he's a real person or not, but his wife seems to check out.

Oh god, turns out I know somebody who recently worked with this guy and wrote him a publicly-available recommendation. That's gotta suck to be connected to this guy in any way.

This is television, its all played up for entertainment/to get people riled up. Yes, he's probably a pretentious twat normally, but not to the degree of humiliating someone he's only just met. So, the clip loses a star for crossing into the bizarro realm, I can't suspend my disbelief for this guy, he's too over the top.

I'm on board here with kennydra, this is produced BS, and it's painfully obvious who the target audience is: the mid-westerner. This episode plays off of commonly understood stereotypes that the working class should/would have about the upper class.

I agree this is "reality-TV" and thus selectively edited to have a troll-like effect for midwesterners. But nonetheless I'm surprised they found a real guy to serve that role, rather than an actor. His identity checks out. He's probably an ass, and probably he looks like more of an ass out of context, which was the intention of the directors.
