Knowing cats as I do (they are incapable of pure altruism) this the cat must have deeper, sinister motives for chasing that dog away.
It probably just felt like attacking something for no real reason other than the fact that it could.
Cat will regret that decision when the dog grows up.
Cats are dicks. Also, not everyone should own animals. If you tape your dog tearing at your kids' clothes and your cat tearing at your dog's eye, you just might be in the group of people that should not own animals.
