The full movie is available in 10 minute parts on youtube, but you should really watch this in an immersive environment on your TV/home theater in decent quality. With popcorn.
I saw this at a university film series knowing nothing about it, never having heard of it. Needless to say it was one of the most intense, mind destroying experiences I've ever had in a movie theater. A distillation of pure hatred and fear, and arguably the best war movie ever made.
This film is in Film4's 50 Films To See Before You Die (http://www.channel4.com/film/reviews/feature.jsp?V=3&SV=2&id=1615 21). I think they should have put at #1 because if you watch the movies in order starting with #50 and jump out a window after seeing it you won't get to see the other movies.
The Soviet experience during WW2 was unbelievable. For anyone who enjoys a little historical context to fuel further nightmares, I suggest - 'Ivan's War: Life and Death in the Red Army, 1939-1945' by Catherine Merridale. How can Russia still exist after going through that?
Also the part (which they show in the trailer) where Florya and Glasha are running from the village to where Florya thinks all the villagers are hiding and Glasha looks back too see all their bodies piled up behind the house was brutal. I think of it a lot to this day.
