Needs a "Morrowind" tag.

Man, crabs are borderline suicidal. Friends of mine tried adding them to their aquariums, but they couldn't keep the buggers from escaping and dying outside of the water.
Unless they're trying to evolve, I don't see why they insist on leaving where they can breathe.

takewithfood - 2009-03-31 Yeah, scientists still haven't figured out why prisoners keep trying to break out of prison, despite the abundance of air in there.
|
Syd Midnight - 2009-03-31 They probably have no awareness of "in air" vs "in water" because they never encounter air where they live. They don't normally scuttle around near beaches.

@takewithfood: Your statement presupposes a great deal:
1. That crabs have an awareness of being confined, even in an aquarium setting.
2. That actual prisoners are in prisons where the environment inside is full of breathable air, yet outside of the walls, they'll have trouble respirating.
3. That crabs are somehow equivalent to people in motivation.
Please tell me you aren't taking courses in either biology or psychology.

takewithfood - 2009-03-31 Hee hee, dude, it was a joke. Next time someone tries to compare crabs to people, consider that they might not be entirely serious.
Also, Alcatraz for #2.

takewithfood - 2009-03-31 Also, I'll have you know that I'm doing my masters in crustacean criminal psychology, thank you very much.

Crustaceans are nature's delicious killing machines, fortunately they aren't very bright.
But if they ever managed to team up with cephalopods humanity would be royally fucked.
