There's not an award-winning quality anything in this clip. National Geographic seems to be evidence that the transition from magazine to moving media actually cheapens the hell out of some things.
Yeah, but at the same time they really wouldn't make a profit if they went with their old style. Plus it makes rednecks in the supermarket check out line feel smart to pick up a copy. I see it as a Catch 22. They need to have journalists that people can relate to if they are going to be marketable, and in return we get to see some awesome footage.
