Meh. I stopped watching the Simpsons after the "Treehouse of Horror" shows started becoming lame-ass movie parodies (like "I know what you did-diddly-did-did last Summer") and the shows themselves started re-treading old concepts.
How many more shows are they going to make where Homer has to win back Bart/Lisa/Marge because Bart has become friends with a celebrity/he doesn't pay attention to Lisa's needs/Marge has taken up a hobby or career and is mad Homer ignored it?
They could start re-shooting season 1 scripts and nobody would notice.
|
poopskin - 2009-06-18 I think they did that around season 11; the episode 'worst episode ever' was a conscious effort to admit they'd run out of ideas and were recycling old ones. When/if it ever ends I'll be sad though, although now there's much more of The Simpsons I have NOT watched than that which I have.

|
fluffy - 2009-08-06 The Treehouse of Horror episodes were always parodies of movies and Twilight Zone episodes. That is a horrible benchmark for the downfall of the Simpsons.
Personally I think the cutoff point is Hank Scorpio. That was the last truly brilliant episode, and after that the writers started trying to top it in ways which completely missed the point to what made that particular episode so good.

GRRR, Only season 1 was good!!! Hurf le Burf!!!
Hows this, if it's funny, laugh, even if you have heard it before. You watch The Big Lebowski more than once, right?
I understand the simpson are repeating themselves at this point. How that is worthy of nerd rage, I'll never understand.
P.S. I always dug this episode.
|
KnowFuture - 2009-06-19 Like most things nerds get all sandy-vagina'd over, I don't respond with rage.
I just stop responding, period.
"Family Guy" is now funnier than "the Simpsons".
Way funnier.
That's right, I said it.

This is still tied (with Scorpio) for my favourite episode, entirely for this part.
I still laugh my ass off everytime I see zombie Lenin, and the laughing 'Soviet' UN representative.

I sent this to my Russian friend, and she basically said that capitalism is already dead and not to listen to the Simpsons cause Lenin is still in the museum.

This season (2009) of the Simpsons was actually pretty good, with a couple exceptions. Not seasons 1 through 11 good, of course, but not too bad in comparison with the rest of the decade, in my opinion, and still better than 95% of the other primetime comedy shows.
