I often do. I can't blame Newsted, he was a great bassist as well. I blame Hetfield and Ulrich for being such snobby assholes to him and the effects it had on the band afterwards.
PS. Lemmy has pointed out the paradox whereby any attempt to make a metal song about how bad war is ends up making war sound even more kick ass, thus the song "1916".
Yeah, that struck me the first time I listened to their self-titled album. Pissed me off then, just sort of makes me sad now when I see it as the beginning of their intentional morphing into Alternica (and eventually Generica).
