Immigration is one of the agendas for the parliamentary election this fall. It's no secret that over the last couple of decades immigration has increased with unfortunate side effects. Refugees from Somalia make up the largest niche. Some might say that Somalians and other minorities stand for many of the criminal problems here, mainly because of the cultural differences one might indicate. Sexual assaults are somewhat of an issue in the capital. Lack of respect for Norwegian values and culture is definitely an issue. I overheard several times native Oslo folks saying they want their Oslo back, one was even saying: "Sometimes it feels like I'm trapped between Africa and the Middle East here". Personally, I consider Oslo not part of Norway anymore.

Right now there are huge problems with Romanian groups who make up over 80% of the Larceny/theft crime based on recent publications. The Norwegian law enforcement tries to counter them by launching a threat level reconnaissance and stopping criminal Romanians at the border. Further they decided to bring in Romanian policemen to Norway!! to handle these cases better than what Norwegian cops would accomplish.

While we are at the topic at depressing themes, Norway has a King, a Crown Prince, a Princess. Norway also has somewhat of a bad habit, which is the alcohol consumption culture, especially among young people, and unfortunately lately among elder influenced boat people this summer.

But let's say some positive things about Norway: We have a-ha, ABBA, Dimmu Borgir, health care, fresh air and small cute pet polar bears.

I'm sorry to dash the hopes of the Norwegians but... Romanian cops? Big fat "lol" , romanian cops can't run a kilometer without puking their fat guts and lungs out. Incompetence and nepotism rule in law enforcement more than in any other domain over here. No way romanian cops in Norway are gonna make any difference regarding your problems with the immigrants.

We now get back to what i was talking about on the italian fascist video a while back. The whole PC view of welcoming immigrants and forming a vast multicultural circle-jerk backfired and now the other extreme it's rearing it's ugly head, namely nationalism/far right-views. Let's hope that the only thing that comes out of this is a set of "tough" immigration laws and not the beginning of isolationism.

Also: A friend of a friend of a friend who is studying in norway was assaulted and badly beaten in Oslo a year or so ago by a gang of somali teenagers. It would be funny if he hadn't lost his laptop and spent a week in the hospital. Jesus people you are suppose to be the leading example of a civilized and prosperous nation (at least that's the stereotype I keep hearing), get a grip on those immigrants, romanian, somali fucking whatever.

There are many pros about Norway which outweigh the cons I like to believe. Norway tries to shape a future where education and knowledge will once relieve this oil dependence nation. Think of Norwegians as reasonable, patriotic people. Yet tolerant and civilized. On Norwegian Constitution Day for instance, ethnicities are free to wave their own colors and flags. Racism and intolerance is looked down upon and covered by media as the most horrid issue. One might speculate if this results in a less free speech society where individuals and employers are reluctant of being associated with prejudice. Then there will always be some immigrants who play the racism card, which also reflects their lack of insight and ignorance. But that's another issue.

I'm familiar with your perspectives on Romania, from the Italian fascist video. I think the effort of bringing Romanian law enforcement to the current crime image in Norway is to handle certain aspects of crime as effective as possible. Like Romanian beggars. There are suppose to be different group minorities of Romanians who have different backgrounds who engage in different law-breaking acts. Police are trying to shape an overview of crime patterns, to counter future crime. Romanian law enforcement are more familiar with this, the government thinks. Also language barriers are always an issue.
As for your friend, there are certain areas in Oslo which are just to prone to assaults at certain times of the day. For instance the central station where trains arrive has a lot of drug addicts, all accumulating at the entrance part. That's the first view many tourists get from Oslo when they arrive. Just hands down absurd. There is a district which is dominated of ethnicities just north from there, pretty unsafe at night during the weekends. Also the problem of schools dominated by immigrants are slowly awaking larger problems. Some parents feel truly displeased of the thought of sending their child to such schools. All this talk reminds me what a shitter Oslo really is. But our neighbor Sweden is far worse of, there immigration has reached new heights of unexplored territory in cities like Malmö. I agree with you that Norwegian need to grew a larger back bone and set their foot down on immigration issues. There are some left wing pussies who truly have an unreachable view of future Norway and are over tolerant most of the time. God dammit.

Highly unlikely. Europe is constantly advancing, the thought of a return/impact of a substantial number of far right wingers is far fetched. Far right wingers are not very popular over here. Europeans are trying to make the best out of current conditions, although it's not an easy task.
