The Billy Bragg version is gutless tripe. "This is the time and place" compared to the Alistair Hulett version, which goes, "And the last fight let us face." It's perfectly suited to 21st century life from a first-world perspective, but adapting old songs calling on lower classes to rise up and seize power to modern life is kind of a waste. I got on just fine with the old version, and Kids These Days can too.

So you're saying this should be more aggressive in its call for revolution?

I remember getting into lots of debates with International Socialist types who felt anyone making money was inherently a capitalist swine to be swept aside. Things like that pissed me off from the movement up until Bush got into power, then my older socialist views came back with a roar, though they have moderated over the years. I still think this deserves more than three stars.

All I'm saying is, I like my Communist anthems to be up front in their calls for a bloody revolution, and this particular version doesn't accomplish that. I appreciate that he tried to adapt it to the tastes of the 21st century, but such a radical change from the original source material soured me on it. If I were totally against it, then it would've been 1-starred, I simply prefer the Alastair Hulett version for the English translation.
