Ontario must be totally anoxic at depth (unsuprising given inlet flow rates and fertilizer runoff). Things will last a very long time when there's nothing to consume or corrode them.

I find well-preserved shipwrecks to be really unsettling. It's a superstitious fear. Even the idea of swimming in water above it frightens me.
It's the inky, unmoving void around the shipwreck that does it for me.
Let's raise it!

Love it, and the great lakes many fond memories as a child, now I'm trapped in a god forsaken dessert. And yes I say we raise her, that I would like to see.
