I really enjoyed that. It's awesome how you can tell which guest is which before right off the bat by the default expressions on their faces.

bongoprophet - 2009-08-20

hahaha yes! I did the same thing!

I knew which side you were on right away, bald angry fatty!

chumbucket - 2009-08-20

which clinched it? the baldness, the fatness or the angryness?

bongoprophet - 2009-08-20

I'd say it was the angry stare, but whether it is a result of the baldness and the fat or if he was born with it is too hard to tell.

if he calls anti-gun protesters Chicken Littles does that mean he considers himself a chickenhawk?

kelpfoot - 2009-08-20

He resembles Dick Cheney in almost every way, be it his hairline, glasses, posture, scowl, manner of speech, mindless conservatism, or even his apparent love of people getting shot.

Bort - 2009-08-20

No right is absolute, not free speech (arguably the most fundamental right of all), and certainly not the right to bear arms. It needs to be said more often in very simple terms.

If rights were absolute, I could cut out this guy's heart and when the cops came to arrest me, I'd just say, "I'm an Aztec and am practicing the religion of my forefathers, which you may not interfere with. Itlan!"

chumbucket - 2009-08-20

"hey, free country"

gazebo - 2009-08-20

These stars are for the Tick reference. Itlan.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-08-20

Can't believe that dude says with a straight face that this is about the 2nd Amendment. Really? Even though the subject of the town halls is health care? And not gun control?

This is just disgusting redneck cosplay. Like if enough shit passes that they don't like, they are going to start another revolution. Bring it, you thoughtless fucks.

Does this mean Obama's not doing the "free speech zone" thing Bush was? I'm not seeing any cages.

namtar - 2009-08-20

How is John Velleco a redneck? Because he likes guns?

pastorofmuppets - 2009-08-20

I was talking about the guys with assault rifles at the town halls, talking about the blood of tyrants.

A few years ago a simple sign would land you in a cage. That's just one more reason they should be thankful their guy lost.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-08-23

Also, I think guns are awesome. But when used as guns, not when used as theatrical props. It's fucking silly how every time a Democrat's in the white house these guys remember the value of dissent, and feel the need to show us what they're supposedly capable of.

What about when the Patriot Act ripped through two legislative houses like a fist through our collective asshole? That wasn't a good enough time to take the semi-automatic out of its case?

But you stick a brown dude in the white house...30 death threats a day. Don't tread on me indeed.

charmlessman - 2009-08-20

It's their right to carry those weapons. But what message does it send?

It's my right to make a skirt out of dildoes and dance the macaranea in the street. But if I did, people would call my crazy and the Secret Service would train their sniper scopes on me, and rightfully so.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-08-20

The first message is "if the government gets any bigger we reserve the right to revolt".

The second message is "we care enough about taxes to kill people"

The third message is "pay no attention to a few years ago when we were calling you out for not being patriotic enough, that was just a phase we went through, now we threaten the president with guns"

charmlessman - 2009-08-26

Yes, but what about the gun owners? What message are THEY sending?

namtar - 2009-08-20

If it's a 2nd amendment issue, then perhaps they'll be happy to only purchase arms from that era?

I guess single shot muskets can't compensate for a tiny penis as well as modern guns can.

Udderdude - 2009-08-20

lol america

Cena_mark - 2009-08-20

A good president should not fear guns. Only a draconian dictator has the need to fear guns.

simon666 - 2009-08-20

The problem with maxims, Cena, is they are too brief to handle the nuance of complex thought and argument. By spouting them, you sound like a simpleton.

namtar - 2009-08-20

Cena Mark is just trolling, but in case Cena is as dumb as a box of wrestling action figures:

President Garfield was shot by a man angry that he wasn't given a federal job. Stick that in your smokeless tobacco can and dip it.

phalsebob - 2009-08-20

I know he's trolling, but by this logic 7/11 cashier have nothing to fear from guns... unless they are also the dictator of a country.

kelpfoot - 2009-08-20

The only president Cena likes is Andrew Jackson.

Vaidency - 2009-08-20

His point is clearly that guns can only be used on bad people. This is why I've never been shot.

SRP - 2009-08-20

People seem to forget that both sides of any spectrum that has formed a dichotomy (political, ideological, religious, etc) have extremists. There are extremist Christians, extremist Muslims, extremists on the far left and extremists on the far right. All of these people are dangerous in that basic social rules that are generally agreed upon ("don't kill people", etc) sometimes fall below their subscription to their ideology.

People who are passionate about the 2nd ammendment are not all going to kill the president. But one in 100,000 might. There are people on the right who strongly (and peacefully) disagree with Obama, and back 5 years ago there were people on the left who strongly (and peacefully) disagreed with Bush. There are also people on each side who are millitant about this disagreement.

By opening up these doors, you're inviting these millitant people to take advantage of an opportunity. It has nothing to do with whether the leader is Draconian or not - I don't believe that Bush was a good president, but I would not call him a dictator. I do think he should have feared guns from some millitant far left groups.

Cena, do you truely believe or think through the things that you type on your keyboard?

Persephone S. Tight - 2009-08-20

Clearly, President Garfield was a draconian dictator, namtar.

Helena Handbasket - 2009-08-20

As was Lincoln, McKinley, Kennedy, and *gasp* Reagan.

Pacobird - 2009-08-20

When did we completely abandon the concept of self-awareness?

kelpfoot - 2009-08-20

> A good president should not fear guns. Only a draconian dictator has the need to fear guns.

Fuck you, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and conservative icon Ronald Reagan.

phalsebob - 2009-08-20

You have the right to a fleet of gunships by the wording of the second amendment. I wonder how that would work out.

phalsebob - 2009-08-20

oops... and 5.

SolRo - 2009-08-20

Aren't most suicide bombers law-abiding citizens, till they push a button?

Helena Handbasket - 2009-08-20

"law abiding citizen who used guns over a million times a year"

RockBolt - 2009-08-20

I sure know that if I am sealed in a small pressurized metal tube made of thin aluminum with a terrorist or even an aggressive drunk guy 30,000 feet up I definitely want to be surrounded by dozens of armed people with hero complexes

Mister Yuck - 2009-08-21

Chris Matthews is Bill O'Reilly but on my side.

takewithfood - 2009-08-21

He really isn't anywhere near as bad as O'Reilly, but he sure is loud and inept as a host. I agree with Matthews' side, too, but I'm rating the video, not his point. He struggled for 10 minutes to get across what Bort summed up in two concise sentences.

Dicknuts - 2009-08-21

I really wish they'd stop this shit. They thought once Obama was in he'd start right in with the gun control, but he hasn't, so it's like they're trying to push the subject to get a reaction because they're disappointed.

I support the Second Amendment, but don't see any reason to get all hot and bothered when it's not really being challenged. I also think Obama is a sexy sexy man. Leave the sexy man alone. He's busy.

FABIO - 2009-08-27

Paranoid: feel safer not having guns everywhere in public

NOT paranoid: feeling that a gun is a magical talisman warding off thought police who'd get you if you relaxed your vigilance for an instant

We already have people carrying around guns in public to make us safe; they're called police. Every single carry debate always brings up how shooting rampages would be stopped cold if everyone carried because if one off-duty cop on the scene capped the gunman, then having MORE armed people would stop it better! Never mind that the reason the gunman was so easy to pick out is because almost no one is insane enough to carry guns in public. Imagine what would happen if dozens of people had their guns out at a shooting. Who are the "bad guys"? How would you be able to make that split second decision?

In which of the following situations would you feel safer that everyone is carrying a piece at all times:

- The office lunatic who's always raving about liberals.

- Someone getting fired in your workplace.

- BEING the person who has to fire unstable coworker.

- Being the teacher giving a failing grade to unstable student.

- Breaking up with someone who has emotional issues.

- At a bar when an argument breaks out.

- Holding a gun looking for the school/office shooter, knowing that everyone else is also looking for someone holding a gun to cap.
