This was bad but the real trauma came 2 or 3 minutes before that as he was slowly run over by the steam roller while screaming and pounding on the drum.
This guy's face, Large Marge, and Freddy Krueger were the subject of all my childhood nightmares. Strange that I couldn't tell until I was older that it was Christopher Lloyd in that movie. Wouldn't have been as scary if I had recognized Doc Brown was trying to kill me in my nightmares.
Traumatizing children really is Robert Zemeckis' forte. Even in movies he produces, like Monster House, he makes sure there's a scene where the mean old man has a heart attack and apparently falls dead on top of the protagonist.
Monster house freaked me out as a adult. Seriously...i have no clue why but when the house got up and started chasing them....*shudders*. No clue why either...i watch lots of horror crap but that fucking house just scared me dammit.
TBQH that's about the same level of mindfuckery as an old Fleischer Bros cartoon, or a particularly inspired 1940s Looney Tunes. Cartoons are meant to be terrifying sometimes.
