Oh shit, I used to watch this religiously as a kid. I just loved how ridiculously pulp-y it was. The episodes were often pretty bad excuses to have them injected into someone or something to fight COMMUNISM or whatever. And I loved this intro sequence. Something about the weird, cavernous art for the lab (which is based on the film, obviously) always stuck with me.
Well, I'm joking/exaggerating, but the plot had nothing to do with fighting disease or anything, which you think would totally make sense. Instead, they were used in all sorts of cold war style espionage.
