Maybe a few years ago, but with the budget cuts, the UC system is letting anyone in these days. Top faculty is leaving, grad students are leaving for private institutions, and any yahoo willing to pay the 10k a year for a public school education can get in.

Also, apply what I'm saying to the film dept too.

With the cuts in funding it's actually harder to get in than it was before the economic shitstorm. But yeah, the UC, CSU, and community colleges in CA are in a world of hurt right now.

I read a lot of this stuff and that article is awesome in a number of ways, but basically she's funny and she knows her audience.

I love how she politely explains scientific principles to him. Not in a derogatory or confrontational manner but just as somebody trying to help someone understand something that they're having trouble comprehending.

But, see, that's not how the game is played for Creationists. Cameron knows full well what speciation is. He has had all of his scientific errors and ignorance pointed out to him. He knows full well everything he spouts is garbage which is why, when he's not on camera, he loses his cool with people and starts to get snippy.
No, Creationists succeed the way they do because they create purposeful, wildly inaccurate definitions of scientific concepts. That way, they can make a particular theory or science sound utterly ridiculous by framing it that way. Then, they can cite that the science is flawed, because of course they're proving that their ridiculous, made-up definition is incorrect, which they already know.

Like saying that "If evolution is true, there should be a Crocoduck." They already know it's garbage, but if enough people believe that's ACTUALLY what evolution says, then it sounds convincing when they say "YET NO KNOWN SCIENCE CAN EVEN VERIFY THE EXISTENCE OF A CROCODUCK"
