"No... Stop... I'm not... Anemone..."

garcet71283 - 2010-02-25

Poor anemone.

I'm sad now.

Tuan Jim - 2010-02-25

oogaBooga - 2010-02-25

5 for evil

and inspiring sympathy towards an invertibrate

Colonel Cowlung - 2010-02-25

That anemone got wrecked. Check related videos for more anemone-directed brutality.

The Mothership - 2010-02-26

Sweet merciful Christ is that some evil shit.

Also needs 'wtf Japan' tag, unless I am wrong about the language.

Spastic Avenger - 2010-02-26

It's not Japanese I don't think, but the tag fits!

Chancho - 2010-02-26

I wonder what is does to people?

Squeamish - 2010-02-26

Yeah, that's a good use of science. Lord knows we need to fuck up the wildlife in the oceans even more than we already have.

Five for evil.

augias - 2010-02-26

Kind of like how David Carradine died.

garcet71283 - 2010-02-26

Hanging naked in a closet surrounded by bondage gear?

augias - 2010-02-26

ejaculating! *zing*

APE_GOD - 2010-02-26

Apparently these things are and incredibly virulent species of pest that infest marine aquariums and sting fish to death.

Five stars for Karma.

SolRo - 2010-02-26

These are aptiasia or glass anemone, they are very rarely kept on their own in single species tanks, and can grow pretty large.

They kill everything that they touch (tens to hundreds of dollars of better coral) and will eat fish when they get bigger.

They also break off pieces of themselves and grow new clones all over the aquarium.

The most effective method of killing them is with a natural preditor like a nudibranch, butterfly fish or shrimp, pastes like this don't work too well.

Spastic Avenger - 2010-02-26

If you get individual small ones on new live rock then a turkey baster full of boiling water works very well. you then suck up the remains by releasing the bulb.

Spastic Avenger - 2010-02-26

I realise that this comment makes me sound like a serial killer.

Sundry - 2010-02-26

I does give a new meaning to your name.

oogaBooga - 2010-02-26

Anemocide.

Lauritz Melchior - 2010-02-26

Jesus Christ. You were right!

That IS the "scaries" thing that I've seen on youtube.

*shudder*

Spastic Avenger - 2010-02-26

I fixed-ed-ed it.

Scynne - 2010-02-26

So killing animals on Youtube is cool, now?

SolRo - 2010-02-26

This is less of an animal than a fly or spider you might kill on a regular basis.

It's a jelly fish in terms of nervous system complexity.

memedumpster - 2010-02-26

Poor little plague of stinging death. It only wants to live and grow and replicate its genes, dammit.

Just like weuns.

:,(

TeenerTot - 2010-02-26

Wow. One-syringe-per-anemone doesn't sound like a very efficient way to save the Great Barrier Reef, tho.

Spastic Avenger - 2010-02-26

Luckily there's plenty of natural predators for these things. The problem is that in captivity those predators either die as they don't eat anything else, or they eat anything but aiptasia.

ShiftlessRastus - 2010-02-26

evil.

Syd Midnight - 2010-02-26

Somewhere out there is a very sad and lonely clownfish

Spastic Avenger - 2010-04-25

These things sting clownfish. They can't host them.

Wombles - 2010-03-11

ogmisce - 2010-04-11
